Celebrating unbreakable community bonds

Chemists will tell you that covalent bonds — which share pairs of electrons between atoms — are the strongest bonds known to science. But as we mark National Health Center Week with the theme “The Chemistry for Strong Communities,” it’s clear that the bonds that unite the nation’s community health centers are perhaps the strongest known to social scientists.

The elements of health center success

America’s network of health centers — founded in 1965 — serves more than 28 million Americans, many of whom live in areas with less access to quality healthcare than is enjoyed by more affluent parts of the country.

  • Effort over generations: Public health advocates, politicians, physicians, and the public have spent nearly 60 years building a framework of some 1,500 health centers.
  • A focus on underserved populations: Health centers serve everyone but proactively seek to reach children, agricultural workers, the homeless, and those living in poverty.
  • Deploying the best medicine has to offer: While they may not have the prestige of major hospital systems and research universities, health centers have state-of-the-art equipment, expert doctors, and industry-leading healthcare IT — including more than 800 centers using eClinicalWorks® and healow® solutions.

Celebrating achievements throughout the week

The theme of National Health Center Week 2022, observed August 7-13, 2022, is “The Chemistry for Strong Communities.” Each day focuses on a specific area, including public health in housing, healthcare for the homeless, agricultural worker health, and children’s health. There are appreciation days for patients, health center staff, and other health center stakeholders.

NationalHealthCenterWeek2022

During the last half-century, the nation’s health centers have achieve much to be proud of, and never have they been shown to be more vital than during the COVID-19 pandemic, which tested the capacity of medical systems throughout the world.

Here in the U.S., those systems sometimes bent but rarely broke. The dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at health centers led the way in offering care throughout the crisis, including playing a major role in helping to administer vaccines and keep their doors for care while striving to reduce the risks of infection.

This year’s health center week is a time to celebrate and recognize those achievements, as well as a time to remember those who lost their lives.

Our ongoing commitment to health centers

eClinicalWorks is honored to be a sponsor of National Health Center Week and proud of our ongoing partnership with health centers nationwide.

Our commitment to helping health centers across the country will continue and, as always, is driven by a dedication to creating and deploying the most innovative healthcare IT solutions in the marketplace.

The cloud-based eClinicalWorks EHR remains a powerful tool for documentation, delivering the most comprehensive and up-to-date patient records available through the PRISMA health information search engine.

And through integration with healow tools for Patient Engagement and Population Health, we continue to ensure that the bonds that unite health centers to their communities will remain strong — throughout this year, the COVID-19 pandemic, and for many years to come.
